My first fashion week with MassyMagazine was a real success. I had been at fashion week before, but this time it felt extra special, right after the launch of my own magazine. I’m very grateful to M.A.C Cosmetics for giving me and my wonderful photographer Charis Boel the opportunity to go backstage at the Alberta Ferretti, Max Mara, Emilio Pucci and Moschino shows. Take a look at my favorite backstage pics and looks by Alberta Ferretti and Max Mara, and lots of fun, wearable tips.
As you know, I’ve been a big M.A.C fan for a very long time, so it’s always extremely exciting to follow the makeup artists & hair stylists backstage. It’s an event, because there’s a real show going on backstage as well. Prepping the models is a race against time. They will then give their best on the runway, the place where their makeup and hairdos will truly come alive. The makeup artists and hair stylists have been prepping for this for months on end, so for them it’s a very important moment.
Lavender was the central theme of this M.A.C look. Gorgeous! Very feminine and sensual. A perfect fit for the feathers and metallic details of the outfits.
The lavender look was created with M.A.C’s loose glitter in ‘Lavender’. The look was further intensified with the Kohl Power Eye Pencil in ‘Feline’ and a bit of Haute & Naughty Lash Mascara. This mascara has a dual-wiper system and is one of my favorite mascaras to both intensify your upper lashes (big orifice) and subtly define your lower lashes (small orifice). The lips were kept natural-looking with shades from M.A.C’s new SS18 lip palette – wishlisted! “I intentionally kept the lips natural-looking, because you never know, maybe the models would like to kiss someone on the catwalk,” the designer of the look told us jokingly.
Both Gigi & Bella Hadid walked the runway during the show! I have to admit that I felt very lucky getting the opportunity to admire these ladies in real life. However, a nice little chat with them was not option: they were closely guarded by their personal bodyguard. Taking pictures was only allowed after they had been transformed by the M.A.C magic.
This was a show that I was really looking forward to. The pieces were all very wearable. Think oversized camel coats, lots of pastels and whites: 100% Massy. Unfortunately they weren’t exactly budgetproof… What does suit my budget however, is the gorgeous backstage look created by M.A.C: a warm red lip paired with natural-looking eye and brow makeup. Definitely a look you’ll see me wearing next summer. At first sight, it might seem more of a winter look, so we can already start practicing. On the lips, they applied M.A.C’s Retro Matte Liquid Lipstick in ‘Quite The Standout‘. A color that I’ve had in my makeup bag for a while now. The rest of the makeup look was kept very young and fresh. No contouring or highlight, just a bit of Pro Longwear Concealer and eyeshadow in ‘Big Whitelie’ and ‘Text Me Later’, two shades from the Basic Bitch Palette. The combination of both taupe and gray was fantastic. I can’t wait to get my hands on these and start experimenting. We also saw the Max Mara show. The music, the strutting models… Wow! The designer must feel incredibly satisfied.
What’s your favorite look? The feminine creamy eyes at Alberta Ferretti or the statement lip at Max Mara?
