Indian Sum

In September, we can often still enjoy a beautiful Indian summer. Make your makeup look Indian summerproof by keeping it natural-looking and glowy. These tips will keep you looking young and fresh, even when summer has ended.

The basis of a beautiful, natural look is your foundation. I prefer a foundation that’s kind of sheer, so it feels like a second skin. My skin often looks oily, which is tricky, because it might make you look like you’re transpiring. This Matissime Velvet foundation by Givenchy is a matte foundation with SPF 20. Don’t forget to wear sunscreen everyday: even when the sun is not shining, the UV rays that damage your skin are still out there. Your foundation doesn’t offer any sun protection? Then do apply a separate sunscreen after you’ve applied your day cream. € 46,00, available in cosmetics shops.

You can apply your foundation with your hands, but if you don’t want to waste product, you can use the Givenchy, Makeup Blender, Fluid & Compact Foundation Sponge to apply your foundation more sparingly. The tip makes it easy to apply makeup on places that are hard to reach, like the corners of your eyes and the nostrils. The larger surface enables you to apply your makeup smoothly on your chin and forehead. € 16,50, available in cosmetics shops.

If you don’t have oily skin and prefer a normal foundation without matte effect, you can just apply a little mattifying powder on your T-zone. Diorskin Nude Air, Care & Dare, 002 Ambre Tan by Dior is perfectly suitable. It holds your makeup in place, mattifies your nose, chin and forehead but also leaves a beautiful glow, so your makeup doesn’t look fake. It comes with a practical kabuki brush that makes for an even, smooth application. Apply the powder with small, circular movements. € 52,50, available in cosmetics shops.

No Indian summer look without a beautiful sun-kissed glow. This highlighter, blush & bronzer trio contains everything you need to finish your look. A touch of highlighter on the places where the sun would normally hit your face: the cheekbones, the bridge of your nose and the Cupid’s bow (the dimple above your lips). Apply the blush on the apples of your cheeks for a youthful, fresh result, and the bronzer on your entire face to make you look like you’ve just spent the afternoon in the sun. Tom Ford Soleil Contouring Compact, € 104,00, exclusively available at Parfuma in Antwerp.

An eyeshadow palette with different kinds of finishes is something I really like. This Tom Ford beauty is an absolute favorite of mine, containing eyeshadows with a sheer, sparkly, satin, shimmer and matte finish. Gorgeous when expertly blended, but just as beautiful when uses separately. Furthermore, the lightest shade makes a beautiful highlighter. Apply in the inner corners of your eyes and just below your brows. A little on your moving eyelid will truly brighten your eyes. We still look (a little) tan, which makes for a beautiful contrast with the two lightest shades in the palette. Tom Ford Eye Color Quad, 12 Seductive Rose, € 76,00, exclusively available at Parfuma in Antwerp.

You can really make your eyes pop when applying eyeliner around your eyes. This eye pencil by Dior, Diorshow Colour & Contour, 630, has two shades. The lightest shade works perfectly as a cream eyeshadow that you can apply on your moving eyelid or as a highlighter in the inner corners of your eyes and just below the brows. The dark brown shade is a beautiful color to intensify your look. Apply on the upper lash line, as close to the lashes as possible, and between the lower lashes. Avoid the water line, because applying eyeliner there will make your eyes look smaller. € 35,00, available in cosmetics shops.

Complete your look with a good mascara. When it’s hot outside, I prefer a waterproof mascara, so it doesn’t budge or stain. This mascara provides both volume and an intense color. Givenchy Noir Couture Volume Waterproof, € 31,00. Paint your nails in a fresh coral shade with Dior Vernis, Coral Crush 445, € 25,50, and you’re ready to hit your favorite summer bar or go to a(n) (Indian) summer party !
